Welcome to February’s Newsletter. Spring is here. The days are getting slightly longer, and we’ve seen a bit more sunshine of late which always lifts the spirits.
World Cancer Day
The 4th February saw World Cancer Day. Macmillan Cancer convened key members of the cancer community, with over 150 people attending a conference and 1000 livestreams. Within the session Macmillan secured commitments from the Secretary of State that the Government must “work really closely with community and voluntary sector organisations and treat them as real partners when we’re delivering support to people”.
Secondary Breast Cancer News
Breast Cancer Now have launched a new Support Group in Peterborough for those living with incurable secondary breast cancer. The Group was launched on the 21.01.25. Their meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of every month 10.15 am to 12.15pm at Christ the Servant King Church in Hampton. Each session will be led by a trained counsellor and every few months there will be longer sessions offering the chance to hear from expert speakers on various topics. For more information contact 03450771893 or email: secondaryservice@breastcancernow.org
Holistic Wellbeing Treatments
For those who attended November’s meeting Michelina Neath joined us. She runs Reika Well-Being based in Peterborough. Michelina is a female-focused Therapist. She offers reflexology, massage and Reiki. The Club has purchased seven vouchers for a Trio Treatment Package. The vouchers need to be used by the 12.06.2025. If you are interested in having a free voucher, please let me know. It will be on a first-come first-served basis. For those who are currently undergoing cancer treatment please check with your health care team first if it is safe to have any of these treatments.
Eloise Lingerie Milton Keynes
Last year some members booked a visit to Eloise in Milton Keynes. Eloise offers a bespoke personal fitting service at the Milton Keynes premises. We had a very enjoyable morning being fitted out with bras and swimsuits. Their staff were lovely and fully trained bra and form fitters. Eloise have asked if any members would like to arrange another Group visit. We car shared on our last trip. If anyone would like to go let me know and we can sort out a date. After our fittings we had a very enjoyable lunch at a local pub so all in all it was a lovely day.

Looking ahead
I know the summer seems a long way off, but I would like to know what members would like to do this year for a summer social event. Last year we joined forces with the Stamford Cancer Support Group for a very enjoyable (but very windy) picnic in Burghley Park, Stamford. Please have a think and share any ideas in the WhatsApp Group and/or at our meetings.
