This Meeting’s Guest Speaker: Munashe Munyukwi
Our guest speaker was Munashe Munyukwi who is the Engagement Lead for Macmillan Cancer Support and Associate Evaluator for Making Impact Matter covering Beds, Cambs and Herts. She gave a very interesting and informative talk on the services available by Macmillan Cancer. She mentioned of course The Wellbeing Centre in Peterborough on the hospital site. For those who do not know it, this is a walk-in centre. You will find us in the Robert Horrell Macmillan Centre on the Peterborough City Hospital site.
Breast Care Nurse:
The representative from the Breast Care Nurses was Claire Hall. It was lovely to see Claire as this was her last visit to the Group before she retires later this month. As Claire had stayed a member of the Group brought up the topic of genetics and breast cancer. Claire explained the younger you are diagnosed the more likely the cancer is genetic. The most common genes are BRCA1 and BRCA2. For those of you who want to read more on this subject there is an informative article written by MacMillan Cancer Support at https://www.macmillan.org.uk.
A retirement card and gift was presented to Clare to thank her for all her hard work over the years working in The Breast Care Clinic and supporting our Group, coming to meetings after long shifts at work, always being bright and cheerful. The Group wished her a long and happy retirement.
1st December 2022 Group Xmas Event:
Buffet food and secret Santa. If you are able to come to this meeting can you please let me know via the WhatsApp Group or message me on 07790856801. I need an idea of numbers for the food. Can you let me know by the 21 November 2022 if possible? For the secret Santa please bring along a gift (no more than £5). The meeting I think should be Xmas themed so if you want to wear something Xmasy please do e.g. Xmas jumper – there will be a prize for the best jumper or other Xmas themed apparel. No pressure you can come in your civvies.
