Thank you for all those attending the October meeting. It was good to see everyone and to meet some new members.

Breast Care Nurses:
Thanks go to the two breast care nurses Nikita and Carly for coming and giving up their valuable time after I’m sure a hectic day at work. Nikita spoke about the Specialist Breast Pain Clinic based at Doddington Hospital. The Clinic offers services to those suffering breast pain. If you are suffering with breast pain referrals are made via your GP.

Questions:
There was a discussion about the use of vacuum dressings and drains after surgery. The former is a type of therapy or dressing to help wounds heal. The importance of doing the exercises after surgery was emphasised and to keep these up. Members agreed that they are given a lot of information on diagnosis, and it is a lot to take in. It was acknowledged how helpful it was to have a breast care nurse in the meeting with the doctor who was taking notes. There is a lot of information in the packs handed out.

There was general consensus that it would be really helpful if one of the breast surgeons could attend one of our meetings. Nikita made a note and said she would ask. It was a really good session with the nurses and very informative. Their next visit will be in February.

Next Meetings: Notice that 2nd November our meeting will have Lisa-Marie from Breathe Pilates and 7th December meeting will be our night out for Christmas.
